People engage in daily work: individually or collaboratively. This work ranges from operational tasks with short-term outcomes to more significant endeavors, promoting reflection on overall development and the formulation of new strategies. This paper focuses on the latter, analyzing the impact of actors’ work on a company’s strategizing process. It also examines inter organizational strategizing within the context of a strategy consulting mission. By focusing on the work performed during different tasks of the consulting mission, this paper proposes a novel methodology using primarily emails exchanged between the consulting firm and the client company’s teams during the first year of the consulting intervention. By utilizing this data source, we were able to reconstruct the mapping of the main events of the strategizing process, identify various forms of work, and analyze the connections between the consulting tasks and the forms of work performed within them. As a result, we were able to uncover the significance of multidimensional work in the client-consultant strategizing process.
