The United Nations have defined a set of grand challenges in terms of the so-called Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). If left unresolved, grand challenges have dramatic implications at a global scale. However, tackling grand challenges demands engaging in co-design and collaborative innovation for a sustainable future, as well as integrating otherwise disparate bodies of knowledge to promote institutional transformation, behavioural change and digital transformation.
The importance of this special issue topic is thus rooted in understanding how co-design and collaborative innovation can have real impact and shape managerial practices in resolving grand challenges. This Special Issue serves to investigate the role of co-design and collaborative innovation in conceptualizing, organizing, performing, managing and leading ways to respond to grand challenges. The objective is to unveil and develop the underlying concepts, structures, mechanisms, processes, tools, logics and boundaries of pursuing bold ideas and solutions for grand challenges and a sustainable future.
Submission Process: Please prepare the manuscript according to IEEE-TEM’s guidelines and submit the journal’s Manuscript Central site (https://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/tem-ieee). Please clearly state in the cover letter that the submission is for this special issue.
