Business model innovation is about finding new ways to organize a business (Casadesus-Masanell & Zhu, 2013). BMI has been pursued in a variety of forms that range from completely new BMs at the inception of a firm (e.g. Airbnb, IKEA, Uber) to innovations in a small number or even a single BM-element of an established company; e.g. the Taco Bell kitchen-less concept (Santos et al., 2009).
